The Chamber of Deputies approved, on the afternoon of this Thursday (09), the amendment to the Union’s Annual Budget Law (LOA), which provides for the appointment of 1,284 military police officers and 800 civil police officers to form the Federal District’s security framework. Now, the appointment goes to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) for sanction.
Yesterday, governor Ibaneis Rocha (MDB) and vice-governor Celina Leão (PP) were at the House to ask for support from parliamentarians in the change. In addition to them, the Secretary of Economy, Ney Ferraz, also participated in the coordination, accompanied by the district deputy Hermeto and the general delegate of the PCDF, José Werick.
“This is another victory for the GDF. I spoke with the president of the Joint Committee on Plans, Public Budgets and Inspection (CMO), deputy Julio Arcoverde (PI), and showed the importance of this appointment to reinforce the performance of the DF’s security forces. I thank the deputy”, stated Ibaneis Rocha.
Security force employees are paid with resources from the Constitutional Fund, transferred by the federal government. The Fund’s resources are used to pay for the organization and maintenance of the Civil Police, the Military Police and the Military Fire Department, as well as providing financial assistance for the execution of public health and education services.
The Economy Secretariat estimates that the expense of appointing these professionals in 2024 would be in the order of R$318.3 million.
