Confusion arose before the start of a session at the City Council of Bom Jesus da Lapa, a city in western Bahia, after the municipal secretary of Administration, Vitor Hugo, entered armed and threatened members of the opposition. The case happened this Thursday (9).

Witnesses report that the secretary’s entry into the chamber was accompanied by a series of accusations and threats. He would have addressed intimidating words to opponents, claiming retaliation and warnings if they continued with their criticism of municipal management.

The case was reported during the session by councilor Léo de Lio (PSD). The parliamentarian considered the behavior of the head of Administration as “unacceptable” and repudiated the attitude. “These attitudes by municipal secretary Vitor Hugo are undemocratic and unacceptable. Furthermore, they reiterated our commitment to monitoring and demanding transparency in municipal management, regardless of intimidation or threats” declared councilor Léo de Lió.

Metro1 had access to the incident report, the document states that secretary Vitor Hugo “entered the room in a tone of irony and said ‘look at those EURES people’ and after speaking he pulled out a firearm […] the secretary also uttered profanity towards deputy Eures Ribeiro”.
