A psychology student was kidnapped and had her car and cell phone stolen in the parking lot of a private university, on Tuesday night (7), in Lauro de Freitas, in the Metropolitan Region of Salvador.

The victim, who prefers to have his identity preserved, did not want to be interviewed. However, she allowed a source to report how it all went down.

The source, who also preferred not to be identified, said that the victim left the Metropolitan Union for the Development of Education and Culture (Unime) building, where she had classes, at around 5pm, when she was approached by a man who was sitting in the parking lot curb.

The suspect threatened the victim and left the parking lot with the student inside the vehicle, sitting in the passenger seat.

He told her to get in the car, then she got scared and screamed. The man asked her not to scream and move to the passenger seat. She got into the car with him and didn’t know if he was armed or not because he was wearing a backpack, so there could have been something inside or not and when in doubt she didn’t react,” said the source.

The victim begged the suspect to let her out of the car while he was driving the vehicle. The man then allowed her to exit the vehicle a few meters away from the university.

“He said he would only let her out when she was out of college. Probably to not give her time to ask for help and not shout to anyone. In the meantime, he asked her to unlock her cell phone and asked if the car was insured and GPS. Then he left her a little outside the university. It wasn’t very far away”, he reported.

After being left by the suspect, the student returned to the educational institution and was helped by professors and university professionals.

The person who reported the robbery complained about the insecurity in the university parking lot and said that this is not the first time robberies have occurred there. According to her, the outsourcing of parking happened after complaints from students and employees. Students pay R$60 to access.

“The parking lot has a gate, marking and cone, but it’s not really safe. It’s like a shopping mall. You press the little button, get a ticket, enter the college and have 15 minutes of free parking,” he said.

In a note, the Civil Police reported that images from security cameras are being analyzed to identify the perpetrator of the crime and recover the stolen objects. The case is investigated by the Lauro de Freitas police station.

The educational institution, also through a note, regretted what had happened and reported that “the parking service is outsourced, with the company responsible being responsible for taking care of the surveillance and security of any and all activities carried out in the subleased space, including the hiring of respective insurances. Unime’s statement note

“Unime regrets the fact that occurred and informs that the parking service is outsourced, with the responsible company responsible for taking care of the surveillance and security of any and all activities carried out in the subleased space, including taking out the respective insurance. Therefore, in accordance with the contract, any loss arising from theft or theft that users may suffer is entirely the responsibility of the company providing the service. The institution emphasizes that, upon becoming aware of the facts, it contacted the local police and the company that owns the parking lot in order to find evidence of what happened. The rectory received and listened to the student in question, making itself available to provide support and clarification.”
