Security cameras recorded the attempted robbery that ended with the death of personal trainer Luis Felipe Alves do Nascimento, aged 27, on Sunday morning (5) in Praia do Flamengo. Luís was shot and ended up dying after being taken to the Miguel Couto Municipal Hospital in Leblon, in the South Zone of Rio.
In the images recorded on Sunday morning, it is possible to see that Luis Felipe was at the gate with his girlfriend, when two robbers arrived on a motorcycle. The man on the back of the vehicle gets out and announces the robbery.
The criminal points the gun at Luís. For a few seconds, the officer looks like he will meet the robber’s demands. However, at a certain point, he goes after the criminal.
In the images, the two are hidden by the building’s gate. The camera only films the assailant who remains on the motorcycle while observing the action.
Luis and one of the robbers start fighting. Seconds later, the armed criminal manages to take a step towards the sidewalk and fires a shot.
The young man leaves the building already staggering, while his girlfriend seems to be desperate about the situation.
Luís still manages to run after the armed robber along the sidewalk and the street, but without success, collapses to the floor seconds later. Luís’s girlfriend approaches and tries to help the young man. Meanwhile, the two criminals escape on the motorcycle.
Personal trainer is killed in Praia do Flamengo
The crime happened on Sunday morning, around 6am. Every robbery attempt lasts about 40 seconds.
The teacher was rescued with a bullet lodged in his intestine. The case was registered at the 9th DP (Catete). The Civil Police are trying to identify the criminals.
