Students from 102 schools in the state public education system in Amazonas participate in the state stage of the Young Senator 2024 Program, promoted by the Federal Senate. In 2023, 67 schools participated in the process. At the end of the stages, a student will represent the state in a Legislative Experience Week, in Brasília.

In the state selective, student candidates compete through an essay, which this year addresses the theme “200 years of the Senate and the challenges for the future of democracy”. Each school promoted its internal writing competition and selected the best texts. These were forwarded to a committee of evaluating teachers, from the State Department of Education and School Sports, specialists in Language. After analysis, the three best works will be sent for evaluation by the Senate.

The coordinator of the Young Senator program at the Department of Education, Antônio Menezes, highlighted the increase in the number of schools participating in this edition and highlighted that, in the current phase, the commission, made up of eight teachers, has until May 15th to finalize the assessments.
