Residents of Tarauacá, in Acre, face difficulties in issuing Identity Cards due to the absence of an OCA. The cards are issued at the Civil Police Station, where only two servers meet a growing demand, resulting in long queues and people sleeping in front of the place to obtain the document. In images from last Tuesday (07), it is possible to see the situation.

The problem is worsened by the requirement of the federal government’s Pé de Meia Program, which requires documentation for students, further increasing demand for the service.
At the Civil Police Station, two employees serve around 15 people in the morning and another 15 in the afternoon.
The situation has reached a critical point in recent days, with residents spending entire nights queuing up in front of the police station in the hope of obtaining their General Registration Card (RG). This phenomenon is not uncommon, especially among those who reside in rural communities.
The head delegate of Tarauacá, Ronério Silva, speaking to the Ac24horas, recognizes the growing demand for issuing Identity Cards in the municipality. Since 2022, an impressive 9,660 IDs have been issued at the Tarauacá Police Station.
Ronerio Silva highlights the efforts of the local police to deal with the situation, but highlights the urgent need for reinforcements in infrastructure, especially with regard to biometric capture kits. The scarcity of resources and qualified personnel makes it difficult to adequately respond to the growing demands of the local community.
