The Natural Disaster Prevention Superintendence/Alert Room of the State Secretariat for the Environment and Water Resources of Alagoas (Semarh), reported this Wednesday, 8th, that the Coruripe, Piauí and Canduípe Rivers remain high, but with expectation of stabilization and decline in the coming days.

Also according to the ministry, the Jequiá River basin experienced a considerable increase in water due to recent rains, resulting in a significant increase in the level of the Jequiá lagoon. Even with the end of precipitation, the flow into the ocean remains slow, influenced by the tides, he said.

Coastal and smaller streams, such as Jacarecica and Silva, reached stability with the reduction in rainfall, indicating a tendency for their levels to decrease.

However, the São Miguel River recorded a peak of 343 cm, close to the overflow point in some residential areas. Despite this, with the decrease in rainfall since the previous afternoon, there is a gradual stabilization and a beginning of decline in its levels.

The Mundaú, Paraíba and Jacuípe Rivers, in turn, remained within normal limits, with levels below the attention quotas during the rainy season and during the early hours of this Wednesday.

As for the Manguaba Lagoon, in Marechal Deodoro, the level remains high, but subject to tidal variation, indicating a tendency towards stabilization without reaching the overflow level. In the municipality of Pilar, the increase in the level of the lagoon is gradual, but is also expected to stabilize, influenced by the variation in tides.
