The Constitution and Justice Commission (CCJ) of the Legislative Assembly of the State of Paraná approved, this Tuesday (07), bill No. 761/2023, which establishes the permanent Campaign “Elderly Against Drugs” authored by the deputy state Cobra Repórter (PSD). The project, approved with a general substitute, aims to welcome and treat elderly people with dependence on alcohol and other psychoactive substances.
According to the text, the campaign aims to provide multidisciplinary health and assistance actions, aiming to prevent the immoderate use of drugs, psychosocial rehabilitation and the reintegration and social inclusion of these people.
The project provides for joint coordination of the campaign by the State Drug Policy Center and the State Council for the Rights of the Elderly of Paraná. Among the priority objectives of the campaign are the promotion of humanized reception units, the training of professionals involved in treatment, the promotion of rehabilitation and social inclusion activities, in addition to enabling home care for elderly people with dependency, when necessary.
“The approval of this project represents an important step in promoting the health and well-being of the elderly in our state”, highlighted state deputy Cobra Repórter, who is the president of the Commission for the Defense of the Rights of Elderly Persons of the Legislative Assembly. The proposal also provides that the Executive Branch will be able to regulate the law, establishing the criteria for the operation of the campaign and other guidelines necessary for its implementation.
“This project has the support of the Public Ministry of the State of Paraná through prosecutor Rosana Beraldi Bevervanço, Coordinator for the Defense of the Rights of the Elderly and Persons with Disabilities. The Public Power must be prepared, sensitive to current and future social problems, anticipating and preventing them through actions that make it possible to improve the quality of life of the community”, said deputy Cobra Repórter.
