The Institute for Strategic Health Management of the Federal District (IgesDF) launched, this week, a panel that informs in real time the flow of care in Emergency Care Units (UPAs). With this, patients can see the status of the queues and the estimated waiting time even before going home. The new Queue Panel in UPAs is now available and promises to make life easier for citizens seeking medical care in these units.

The panel, implemented by IgesDF’s Superintendency of Information Technology and Connectivity in Health, displays a variety of data, including the current number of patients in the unit, number of consultations carried out in the last 24 hours, the distribution of patients awaiting medical care according to classification risk, in addition to the average waiting time per classification. Patients waiting for service opening (GAE) and the average waiting time are also displayed.

According to the CEO of IgesDF, Juracy Cavalcante Lacerda Jr., “this panel represents an advance in technological innovation and transparency. By making this data available in real time, patients will have the option of choosing a unit with a shorter waiting time, in addition to knowing exactly how many people are in front of them while waiting for their appointment.”

Also according to the CEO of IgesDF, the new system will also allow the issuing of real-time reports on the number of visits to each UPA, waiting time and epidemiological profile. “This way we will be able to map important data for strategic actions to improve the service. In addition to these advances, it will be possible to transmit even more agility and transparency to the control bodies”, explains Juracy.

The implementation of these panels is aligned with clinical governance, a model based on the IgesDF work plan that aims to improve processes and strategies in identifying, analyzing and resolving problems to improve the quality of patient care.

“The queuing system at UPAs operates intelligently and dynamically. The panels are constantly updated, in real time, allowing a comprehensive and accurate view of the status of queues in all units, which allows us to take proactive measures to avoid congestion and guarantee agile, quality care for all patients”, he explains. the superintendent of Information Technology and Connectivity in Health, Deilton Silva.

According to the superintendent, there is a command center where all emergency care units are monitored, so that possible overcrowding can be checked, and resources can even be reallocated to mitigate overload.

The UPAs Queue Panel is now available to the entire population in all emergency care units or on the IgesDF website. With this initiative, it is expected not only an improvement in the patient experience, but also an optimization of resources and a reduction in the overload of UPAs. “In short, this tool will guarantee more agile and effective service, in addition to contributing to guaranteeing the health and well-being of the population”, explains Deilton Silva.

The panel is just one of several BI (Business Intelligence) panels that are being developed by the Institute’s superintendence of information technology and health connectivity. In addition, panels were created aimed at monitoring dengue fever and the epidemiological profile, with the aim of monitoring and analyzing indicators. Both are also available on the IgesDF website.
