Among the institutions that are collecting donations, the Red Cross branch in Rio de Janeiro has opened vacancies for volunteers who want to help receive and sort the donations collected. To participate in this action as a collaborator, simply contact the Volunteer coordinator, Bete. The number is: 21 97036-0264.

Citizenship Action is another mobilization in the chain of good. With the ‘Emergencies’ campaign, the NGO asks for donations of basic food baskets, non-refrigerated boxed juices, powdered milk, food for immediate consumption for local solidarity kitchens, blankets, mattresses and food, among others.

The organization accepts financial donations through its official website and pix [email protected]. With part of the amount already raised, three tons of supplies were sent to the population of Rio Grande do Sul by land and another 10 will be taken with support from the Brazilian Air Force (FAB). The project operates in the short, medium and long term.

“In this first moment we are taking food, hygiene and cleaning items. But we know that donations decrease a lot as the days go by. So this is when we need to help even more. In the medium and long term, Ação da Cidadania buys furniture , buy household appliances, buy items that help rebuild people’s lives – said Rodrigo “Kiko” Afonso, executive director of Ação da Cidadania.

Another institution to provide space for donations is Unidos de Vila Isabel, which opened its court, located on Boulevard 28 de Setembro, as a collection point for donations for victims of the floods in RS.

A collection point was also set up at the Raulino de Oliveira Stadium, in Volta Redonda, to receive donations. Those interested in donating should attend, from Monday to Friday, from 8am to 5pm, at Acesso Branco, which is located on Rua 545, in the Jardim Paraíba neighborhood.

The campaign aims to involve Voltaço fans, who host Botafogo-PB there next Sunday (12), at 7pm, in Series C of the Brazilian Championship.
