The Pará State Department of Education (Seduc), through the Alfabetiza Pará Program, started the ‘Let’s Literacy’ campaign, the purpose of which is to intensify, in the months of May and June, actions and discussions, at school level, respect for the literacy process, seeking to join efforts to guarantee children’s right to learn, in the 1st and 2nd year classes of Elementary School, with a focus on the initial appropriation of the alphabetic writing system.

The initiative, according to Seduc, began with the provision of a manual of guidelines for monitoring and interventions in initial literacy learning, where education professionals became aware of how the mobilization will occur. The monitoring will be done in six steps, which should be worked on until June, which involves the Diagnostic Assessment, a monitoring and intervention tool in this process, as it allows the direction of activities, considering the characteristics of each student, the progress and difficulties faced in the process, and directs different diversification strategies of collective interventions, in productive and individual groups.

Another step is the Weekly Routine, which refers to the suggestion for organizing the time/space in the classroom to work with the language practices necessary for the literacy and literacy process. And, finally, the Celebration of Learning, where schools must organize and culminate the work produced by children, as well as celebrate the learning and work produced over the two months.

“It is a specific campaign for the state education network, with the aim of guiding schools regarding the literacy process of students in the 1st and 2nd years of Elementary School, seeking to join efforts to guarantee children’s right to learn. Proposing that the entire network follows the same organization of pedagogical work is a challenge considering the specific characteristics of the students. Each week, we will take important steps to achieve our goal in the 1st and 2nd year classes, in order to advance in the syllabic, syllabic-alphabetic and alphabetical hypotheses”, said Carla Reis, director of Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education at Seduc.

In this first week, on the 6th and 7th, diagnostic survey 1 is being carried out, and on the 8th to 10th, the assessment results forms will be delivered. On 05/30 and 06/04 there will be diagnostic survey 2 and from 05 to 06/07, the delivery of the evaluation results. Diagnostic survey 3 will be applied on the 24th and 25th of June, and the forms with the evaluation results are scheduled for the period from 26th to 28th of June, followed by the celebration of learning.
