On the initiative of deputy Bia de Lima (PT), the Legislative Assembly of Goiás held, this Tuesday, the 7th, the 6th State Conference of Cities, with the theme “Building the National Urban Development Policy: paths to inclusive, democratic cities , sustainable and with social justice”.

The meeting is promoted by the Ministry of Cities and the Council of Cities in the process of rebuilding social participation in public policies for urban development, housing, peripheral territories, urban mobility and basic sanitation. The conference unfolds into municipal, state and then national stages. The aim is to raise reflections and questions to inspire debates and propose solutions to the problems and challenges of Brazilian cities.

In Goiás, more than 10 entities are involved in discussing improvements to the infrastructure of Goiás municipalities. According to the parliamentarian, the population’s participation in this process is essential to understand the demands of each city.

“We are preparing various social segments to produce a document to add to the City Conferences, which is a way for us to democratize the demands of each city and not just limit it to this or that mayor. But, above all, the population needs to be heard to speak their concerns and their demands,’ he said.

At the end, the findings carried out by the national conference will be taken to the Federal Government and distributed to the competent ministries.
