The meeting of the Greater Aracaju Metropolitan Public Transport consortium, which was scheduled to take place this Tuesday, 7th, was rescheduled for Wednesday, 8th, when the final version of the notice will be presented. The change occurred due to the unavailability of the Consortium members’ agenda.

The final version of the notice, after approval by the members of the Consortium, formed by the mayors of the municipalities of Aracaju, Nossa Senhora do Socorro, São Cristóvão, Barra dos Coqueiros and the governor of the State, will be published for broad competition from companies from all over the country.

Consortium
Using an online form, the Consortium carried out a public consultation to receive contributions to the initial proposal for the bidding notice. As well as public transport users in Aracaju, São Cristóvão, Nossa Senhora do Socorro and Barra dos Coqueiros, interested companies from all over Brazil also had the opportunity to ask questions and send suggestions.

During the Public Consultation period, the platform received a large demand for suggestions from the four cities involved, which were carefully analyzed by the SMTT technical team in conjunction with the ANTP consultancy, taking into account the legal, economic and operational aspects .

The entire process is being conducted in a democratic and transparent manner. In this sense, Mayor Edvaldo Nogueira personally delivered the initial proposal for the notice to supervisory bodies, such as the Public Ministry of the State of Sergipe (MPSE), Aracaju City Council, the Court of Auditors of the State of Sergipe (TCE-SE) and also to the Court of Justice of Sergipe (TJSE).

In a meeting held on March 19, the Metropolitan Public Transport Consortium defined the parameters for the bidding, including time requirements for fleet renewal and division into lots. Among the measures already adopted by the Consortium are the fare freeze and the granting of a subsidy by the capital’s city hall for public transport in the metropolitan region, which serves 170 thousand users daily, totaling 3.5 million passengers per month.
