A luxury car that had been stolen in Minas Gerais was found by the Military Police between the end of Monday night (6) and the early morning of this Tuesday (7) on BR-354 (Rodovia Sebastião Alves do Nascimento ), in Resende (RJ). According to the PM, the 29-year-old driver disobeyed the order to stop, even fled, but was found and arrested.
The case took place in the district of Engenheiro Passos, close to km 25. The Resende police had already been monitoring the car after it evaded a police approach in Itamonte (MG) and continued towards the municipality.
According to the PM, in an attempt to approach the car, the driver “threw” the vehicle at the police officers with the intention of running them over. Nobody was injured.
To try to prevent the car from escaping, the agents shot towards the vehicle, which stopped further ahead. The driver tried to escape by jumping across the roofs of nearby houses.
Through a complaint from some residents, the police managed to find the suspect inside a restaurant bathroom. He had to be taken to the Resende Emergency Hospital after being hit in the left arm by glass fragments after the police shot at the car.
Despite reports that the man was armed, nothing was found with him or in nearby areas.
After receiving medical attention, the suspect was taken to the Resende police station and charged with theft, resistance and disobedience.
The car was seized and also taken to the city police station.
