Federal deputy Evair Vieira de Melo (PP-ES) says that an amendment he authored, to the legislative decree that recognizes the public calamity in Rio Grande do Sul, was rejected in the Chamber of Deputies. “The rain in Mimoso do Sul was 700 millimeters within 24 hours. If you compare it to Rio Grande do Sul, it was 700 millimeters in eight days. We had 700 millimeters in Mimoso (do Sul)”, points out the parliamentarian.

“I would like to ask the government leader, then, to make a commitment to address the exceptionality for Espírito Santo in a new text. I will say again that the gravity of the facts are the same, the impact was the same. We saw twice as much rain upon impact, and that is why I ask the government leader to open the agenda”, he added.

Evair de Melo’s proposal, which was rejected, provided for the inclusion in the same decree recognizing the calamity in Rio Grande do Sul, of the municipalities in Espírito Santo most affected by the recent rains. The federal deputy remembers the severity in the state, where 25 people died.

Exceptionality

In the plenary of the Chamber of Deputies, Evair de Melo made an appeal to the Government leader, deputy José Guimarães (PT-CE) to open an exception and include the South of Espírito Santo in the same decree recognizing calamity in Rio Grande do Sul .

The draft legislative decree 236/24 (PDL) recognizing a state of public calamity in Rio Grande do Sul until December 31, 2024 was approved late last Monday night (6) draft legislative decree (PDL) recognizing the state of public calamity in Rio Grande do Sul until December 31, 2024. Now the PDL, derived from a message from the Executive Branch, has been sent to the Senate.
