Acre records 57 violent deaths in the first quarter of 2024, according to MP report

Acre recorded 57 violent deaths in the first quarter of this year compared to the same period in 2023. This is what the Criminal Analysis Observatory released by the State Public Ministry shows.

The number of violent deaths between January and March 2024 remained the same as that recorded in the first quarter of 2023.

According to the data, in the month of January this year, 26 violent deaths were recorded. In February there were 16 and in March there were 15 records.

Violent deaths include intentional homicides, femicide, robberies, deaths resulting from police intervention on and off duty and bodily injury resulting in death.

Among the 57 cases registered this year, 52 were completed intentional homicides, two femicides, one robbery, one death resulting from police intervention and one bodily injury resulting in death.

In the same period last year, there were 53 intentional homicides, one robbery and three deaths resulting from police intervention.

In Rio Branco, violent deaths increased by 50% this year. According to the MP-AC observatory, between January and March 2024, 36 people were killed in the state, while in the same period last year there were 24.

The observatory also shows the number of violent deaths up to March in the last six years. In 2019, 87 deaths were recorded and in 2020 there were 97 cases, the highest number in the historical series. In 2021, data shows that the number of deaths fell to 63, and in 2022 it continued to fall and reached 46 occurrences. In 2023, there was an increase in registrations, totaling 57, a number that remained in 2024.

With regard to the afternoon of violent deaths per group of 100 thousand inhabitants, Acre, which had remained below the national rate until 2015, showed significant growth in 2016 and 2017, going from an average of 20 to 27 cases for every 100 thousand inhabitants at a rate of 47.5 and 67.4, in 2016 and 2017, respectively. In 2024, the rate is 30.2 violent deaths per group of 100 thousand inhabitants.
