The General Civil Police Station (DGPC), in partnership with the Hemocentro de Palmas, is carrying out a campaign with the aim of bringing together volunteers to donate blood. This year, the initiative has the theme “Donating blood is an act of love” and will take place next Tuesday, 14th, at 8 am at the DGPC headquarters. Collection will be carried out by a mobile unit at the blood center.

The general delegate of the Civil Police, Claudemir Luiz Ferreira, points out that the invitation is extended to all civil police officers, administrative employees and their families. “Our aim is to reinforce the Palmas blood bank and, above all, save lives. Blood donated by one person saves up to four lives. We count on the participation and solidarity of all those who fit the donor profile, so that together we can save lives”, he highlights.

Who can donate

To donate blood, you must be in good health, present a valid photo ID throughout the country, weigh more than 50 kg and be between 16 and 69 years of age. It is important to highlight that young people aged 16 and 17 can donate blood with formal consent from their legal guardian.

Furthermore, it is recommended that the donor is not fasting at the time of collection, has a night’s sleep of at least 6 hours, avoids drinking alcoholic beverages in the 12 hours prior to donation, and does not smoke for at least 2 hours. before and avoid fatty foods in the 3 hours before donation.

It is also essential to respect the interval between one donation and another. Men must wait two months, with a maximum of four donations per year, while women must wait three months, with a maximum of three donations per year.

Bone marrow donation

The campaign also draws attention to bone marrow donation. Transplantation is a recommended treatment modality for a variety of conditions related to blood cell production and the immune system. Among the main beneficiaries are patients with leukemia of bone marrow origin, lymphomas, immunological diseases, diseases of the spleen, ganglia and severe anemia, both congenital and acquired.

To become a bone marrow donor, you must be between 18 and 55 years old, be in good health, not have infectious or disabling diseases, nor present neoplasms or hematological or immune system diseases. The process includes filling out a form with personal information and collecting a blood sample. It is important to keep your registration up to date on the redome.inca.gov.br website to ensure the effectiveness of the donation system.
