Federal Police carry out operation in ES and seize hundreds of boxes of anabolic steroids

Hundreds of boxes of anabolic steroids were seized and two people were arrested in the act in a Federal Police operation, launched this Tuesday morning (07). One of the cities targeted by the so-called Operation Yeast is Cachoeiro de Itapemirim, in the south of Espírito Santo.

According to the Federal Police, there is a criminal group involved in the illegal trade of anabolic steroids, which was discovered after a seizure of these products in Espírito Santo. In addition to Cachoeiro, there are also warrants served in three cities in São Paulo: Guarulhos, Atibaia and the capital of São Paulo.

At least 28 federal police officers carried out seven search and seizure warrants, in addition to the arrest of two people in the act. The names and locations of the arrest were not released.

“The investigation began in 2022, after the seizure of an order of illegal anabolic steroids sent from São Paulo to Cachoeiro de Itapemirim/ES through the Post Office. From this seizure and as investigations progressed, it was possible to uncover a group of people responsible for selling large quantities of anabolic steroids over the internet throughout Brazil”, highlights the Federal statement.

FAKE DOCUMENTS

The Federal Police also explained that it was identified that anabolic steroid distributors used false documents and bank accounts in the name of “oranges” to receive payments for sales of illegal products. The objective was to remain anonymous.

According to the police, the crimes investigated are: illegal trade in anabolic steroids (art. 273, § 1-B, I of the Penal Code), use of false documents (art. 304 of the Penal Code) and money laundering (art. 1 ° of Law 9,613/1998).
