The Civil Police today launched Operation Risk Contract, to comply with five court orders, including arrest warrants and search and seizure, targeting a member of a criminal faction involved in the crime of qualified extortion in Chapada dos Guimarães (65 kilometers from Sinop ). The person being investigated, who acts as a discipline for a criminal faction, carried out charges through coercion and serious threats against the victims.
During the operation, three home search and seizure warrants, one for preventive arrest, as well as a different judicial measure were executed. The investigations began in March 2024, after a victim contacted the Chapada dos Guimarães Police Station to report that she had been receiving threats and being coerced into paying for a contract service, in which the contract was not in agreement.
After failing to comply with the conditions of the contract and failing to paint the house, the hired contractor started demanding other amounts, refusing to complete the work, as well as threatening the victims over the phone. On one of the occasions, the contractor went to the victim’s house accompanied by his accomplice, when he again threatened the victim, saying that people who did not pay in the city were charged by a criminal faction. The victim began to receive several audio messages with threats, including determining times for payment to be made and warnings about contacting the police.
Once the investigations began, the team of police officers from the Chapada dos Guimarães Police Station managed to identify the person responsible for sending the threatening messages, the author being a member of a criminal faction known in the city, investigated for several crimes and responsible for applying “saves”, imposing faction discipline through the use of violence and serious threats, physical punishment and even death.
Based on the elements discovered during the investigations, delegate Eugênio Rudy Júnior, represented the arrest warrants against the suspect and search and seizure warrants at three addresses related to the one being investigated. The court orders were granted by the Court and complied with on Monday afternoon, by the Chapada dos Guimarães police officers.
“The person under investigation operates with the discipline of a criminal faction and, therefore, there is no doubt as to the proof of the existence of the crime of qualified extortion, in addition to the risk that the victims were running with the criminal at large,” said the delegate.
