If you intend to travel through Minas Gerais in the next few days, do not do so without first consulting the website of the Department of Highways (DER-MG). The agency launched a platform that will bring, in real time, updates on the conditions of state highways, enabling drivers to avoid blockages, works and other changes that could harm their route.
The new system for mapping and monitoring occurrences on highways will make travel safer, according to the government of Minas Gerais. When the user consults the platform, in addition to seeing the point and type of incident on the map, it is also possible to see photos of the location.
Among the events that can be monitored through the platform are:
- Total closures
- Half lane traffic
- Excerpts with changes
- Data from when the incident occurred
- Repair completion forecast
“Previously, this type of registration was carried out in a more systemic and much more laborious way. Today, the team that goes into the field can record incidents with their cell phone in hand, even if they are offline, and, within a few minutes, the information arrives in our management system and on the transparency panel”, explains the person responsible for the Strategic Advisory of DER-MG, Rodrigo Colares.
To access the map with occurrences, simply enter the DER-MG website.
Updates will be integrated into apps
Also according to DER-MG, in addition to the map available on its website, the next stage of the platform will be integration with mobility platforms, such as Google Maps and Waze.
The update of occurrences will be carried out directly by the agency’s employees, who work in 40 regional units and travel the state highways of Minas Gerais daily. The data will also be used in planning investments in road infrastructure.
