Driver is injured after driving while drunk and colliding head-on with a truck, says PM | Tocantins

A 47-year-old man was injured after the pickup truck he was driving collided head-on with a truck on the TO-080 highway, in Palmas. According to the Military Police (PM), the driver appeared to be showing symptoms of drunkenness.

For the PM, the driver of the truck said that he was traveling along the highway heading west/east at around 9pm on Sunday (5), when the driver of the truck, who was traveling in the opposite direction, invaded the lane, causing the collision.

According to the PM, the driver of the truck appeared to be showing symptoms of intoxication. He was rescued by the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) and taken to the South Emergency Care Unit (UPA).

The truck driver was uninjured and remained at the scene. Police said he refused medical assistance.

The impact of the crash left the truck with its front end destroyed. According to the PM, the vehicle did not comply with the Brazilian Traffic Code and was removed to the yard.

The Scientific Technical Police were called and after inspection the truck was removed by the person responsible.
