President Lula will arrive in Alagoas next Thursday (9) to authorize the start of work on Section 5 of the Canal do Sertão. The information, which had already been reported by Gazeta de Alagoas, was also passed on Monday (6) by governor Paulo Dantas (MDB). According to the state manager, the investment will be R$500 million through the Federal government’s PAC (Growth Acceleration Program).

The stretch that will receive the work goes from São José da Tapera, passing through Olho D’água das Flores, until reaching Monteirópolis, in the Sertão de Alagoas. According to the governor of Alagoas, the construction of the new section will guarantee the state more than a thousand jobs.
“These are two very cool pieces of news that they, the Federal government, are bringing to Alagoas. One is the service order for section 5 of Canal do Sertão. With an investment of 500 million reais, which is included in the Federal government’s investment plan, in the new PAC, it will generate more than a thousand jobs on site. Furthermore, it will guarantee water for human consumption and also for the maintenance of animals and agriculture”, stated Paulo Dantas.
The second project on Lula’s agenda, according to Dantas, is the inauguration of housing units in Vergel do Lago. “We are all going to be together in this purposeful, development agenda and I am sure that in 2024 we will have an even more successful year, even more productive than we had in 2023”, stated the governor.
