In Mato Grosso, 11 people have already died from the disease
Mato Grosso reached a total of 25,392 probable cases of dengue last Thursday (02/05), according to data from the Ministry of Health. In total, more than 4 million probable cases of the disease were recorded across the country.
According to the ministry, Mato Grosso occupies 11th position in the ranking of dengue mapping in the States and the Federal District. To date, 11 deaths have been recorded as a result of the disease in the state.
In total, 2,197 people died from dengue in 2024 in Brazil, a record. The highest number so far was in 2023, when 1,179 people were killed by the disease.
It is important to highlight that the country is experiencing an explosion in dengue cases. According to the Ministry of Health, this increase is due to factors such as the combination of excessive heat and intense rain (possible effects of El Niño) and the recent resurgence of serotypes 3 and 4 of the dengue virus in Brazil.
The Minister of Health, Nísia Trindade, even appealed to the population to welcome the ministry’s endemic disease control agents into their homes.
