The hotel chain in the Copacabana and Leme neighborhoods is 96% occupied this weekend, according to information from the State Secretariat of Tourism of Rio de Janeiro. The waterfront of the two neighborhoods is expected to receive, this Saturday, around 1.5 million people for Madonna’s concert, of which 200,000 would be tourists.
According to the Department of Tourism, hotel occupancy is also high in the neighboring neighborhoods of Ipanema/Leblon (82.4%) and Botafogo/Flamengo (70%). The percentage also exceeds 70% in accommodations in the Center (77%) and Barra/Recreio (73%). The city’s average was 83.72%, according to a survey carried out on Friday (3), but it could be even higher.
This Saturday’s concert, whose stage was set up in the Copacabana beach area, right in front of the Copacabana Palace hotel and close to Leme beach, ends the North American singer’s world tour.
It is estimated that the event will have an impact of R$300 million on the economy of the city of Rio de Janeiro, at a time that is low season for Rio tourism. From early on, dozens of people were already crowding around the stage. showwhich is scheduled to start at 9:45 pm.
