First performance will have Mozart, Borodin and Esteves in the repertoire

The Amazon Symphony Orchestra (OSA) debuts on the Amazonas Theater stage, this Sunday (5), starting at 7pm. The public will witness the birth of a classical orchestra, made up of 50 musicians at the beginning of their careers who work together with experienced and renowned professionals in the Manaus music scene.
“It’s a very special moment”, said the creator of OSA, maestro Rubens Souza. “It’s not every day that an orchestra is born,” he added.
Debut repertoire
The repertoire will consist of works by Mozart, Alexander Borodin and the musician and composer Timóteo Esteves, from Pernambuco, who has lived in Amazonas for over 20 years.
Concerto No. 3 in G Major for violin and orchestra, and Symphony No. 41 in C Major “Júpiter” by Mozart, open the concert by the Orquestra Sinfônica da Amazônia.
“A linda toada amazônica”, by composer Timóteo Esteves, should close the debut concert. According to the cellist musician, this composition is a work inspired by Amazonian traditions and was composed with the purpose of celebrating and honoring this rich cultural heritage.
About OSA
Created in January 2024, OSA was born as the resident orchestra of the ICBEU Theater.
There are, in total, 50 musicians on four families of instruments: strings, woodwinds, brass and percussion. On the strings: violins, violas, cellos, double basses and harps.
In the woodwinds: clarinets, flutes, requintas, bassoons, contrabassoons, oboes, picollos, requintas and claranes;
In brass: trombones, trumpets, horns and tubas;
In percussion: clear box, timpani, pianos, cymbals, xylophones, chimes and glockenspiels.
