An app driver was shot dead and had his car stolen in the early hours of this Saturday (4), in Salvador. The crime took place on Av. Luís Viana Filho, Paralela, and was recorded by the vehicle’s internal camera. Less than 24 hours later, the suspects were captured.
The victim is Marcos Luis Silva Alves, 29 years old. The young man’s body was released by the Legal Medical Institute (IML) at around 2:20 pm for wake and burial.
Initial information obtained by TV Bahia indicates that he had accepted a race in the Imbuí neighborhood to take two men to the Shopping Paralela region. A Footage shows one suspect in the passenger seat and the second, who points the gun at the victim’s head, in the back seat.
The perpetrators of the crime attacked the driver by shooting him in the middle of the journey. Then, the two left the crime scene taking the car, a Renault Kwid.
The vehicle was located hours later by Military Police teams. The car was in the town known as Boiadeiro, in São João do Cabrito, in the suburbs of the capital of Bahia.
Already the suspects were detained by teams from the Specialized Department of Criminal Investigations (Deic), linked to the Police Station for Repression of Theft and Vehicle Theft (DRFRV). The two were found in Simões Filho, a municipality in the Metropolitan Region of Salvador.
One of them tried to resist arrest and clashed with the police, but was shot in the buttocks. The man was taken to a hospital, while his partner went straight to a police unit.
In a statement, the Civil Police informs that the investigation is conducted by the 2nd Homicide Police Station (DH/Central), which must determine the author, motivation and circumstances of the murder. The crime is treated as robbery.
Hours before the crime, the app driver had mentioned the scene of violence. While driving, he passed two “rabecões”, as body removal vehicles are called, on Av. Antônio Carlos Magalhães.
