MT Hemocentro, the only public blood bank in Mato Grosso, is promoting itinerant actions in several cities in the state, including Cuiabá, with the aim of maintaining blood stocks and meeting existing demand. The initiatives, carried out through the “MT Hemocentro Itinerante”, “Ir Para Including” and “Multiação” programs, rely on the collaboration of several partners and seek to facilitate blood donation, reaching different audiences.

The director of MT Hemocentro, Gian Carla Zanela, highlights the importance of these campaigns and the mobile unit. According to her, these actions not only reinforce the team’s tireless work, but also encourage solidarity from new donors.

“In addition to our headquarters, where services do not stop, we carry out campaigns in strategic cities in the interior and with private and public companies and institutions to collect collections and maintain the blood supply. These actions are extremely important, as they bring MT Hemocentro closer to the population and other Hemorrede units”, he highlighted.

The collections took place in Comodoro (May 6th to 10th), Diamantino (May 13th to 17th) and São José do Rio Claro (May 20th to 24th). In Cuiabá, the actions will be carried out by the Court of Auditors of the State of Mato Grosso (May 7th to 8th), Solidarity Strike Assembly of the Federal University of Mato Grosso (May 9th), Central Directory of Students of the Federal University of Mato Grosso ( May 10), at the Solidarity Hazing of the Federal University of Mato Grosso (May 13), Cuiabá City Council (May 15 and 16), Multiação São João Del Rei (May 18), Bone Marrow Awareness Week ( May 20th to 24th), IFMT (May 20th to 24th), among other points.

The Ministry of Health advises that donors present an official document with a photo, weigh more than 51 kg, be in good health and have eaten a balanced meal. The age range for donation is from 16 to 69 years, 11 months and 29 days. Men can donate up to four times a year, with a two-month interval between donations; Women are limited to three annual donations, respecting the three-month interval.

Up to 450 ml of blood are collected per session and it is recommended to avoid physical exercise and alcohol consumption after donation.
