Rio – The Rio Court of Justice (TJRJ) converted into preventive the temporary arrest of Antônio Souza de Andrade, identified as one of the murderers of stud farm owner Fábio Ortega, aged 72. The decision, issued on Friday (3), accepts the request made by the 2nd Public Prosecutor’s Office for Specialized Criminal Investigation, which denounced the accused.

The complaint from the Public Ministry of Rio (MPRJ) points out that, on the 18th, Fábio left a gym in Itaguaí, a municipality in Baixada, and was followed for around 15 kilometers until he was shot dead by two men in a car on Avenida Padre Guilherme Decaminada, in Santa Cruz, in the West Zone of Rio. Security cameras indicate that the killers arrived in the gym’s parking lot at 9:38 am and the murder took place around 11:45 am.

According to the complaint, Antônio is the owner of the vehicle and participated in the execution of the crime at the behest of a criminal group that runs illicit activities in the region. In testimony, the victim’s son said that Fábio owned a club in Santa Cruz and paid a weekly “security fee” to militia members, but was unable to say whether there was any debt. The case is being investigated by the Capital Homicide Police Station (DHC), which is investigating the motivation and looking for others involved in the crime.

On social media, Fábio identified himself as an entrepreneur, breeder and horse exhibitor. He managed a stud farm for breeding and training animals, in addition to holding auctions specializing in the Mangalarga marchador breed.

In 1996, Ortega was investigated for involvement with Jogo do Bicho in São Paulo. According to a report, he was known as ‘Travolta’ and worked in the areas of Brás and Bexiga, neighborhoods in the central region of São Paulo.
