ALAGOAS – Hemoal promotes blood collection at a church in Arapiraca this Saturday (4) to maintain stable stocks and facilitate donations.

Next Saturday, May 4th, the Nossa Senhora do Carmo Parish, located in the Jardim de Maria neighborhood, in Arapiraca, will receive a team from the Hemocentro de Alagoas (Hemoal) to carry out a blood collection. The action is scheduled to take place from 8 am to 12 pm and from 1 pm to 5 pm, aiming to facilitate access for Arapiraquenses to voluntary blood donation.

According to the social worker at Hemoal in Arapiraca, Danilo Lima, this initiative is part of a set of external collections carried out weekly in various parts of the state. The intention is to make donations more accessible for those who cannot travel to collection points. Furthermore, it helps to maintain the blood center’s blood stocks at stable levels.

To be able to donate blood, you must be in good health, weigh at least 50 kilos and be between 16 and 69 years old, according to criteria established by the Ministry of Health. Donors must also avoid eating fatty foods and alcoholic beverages within the last 12 hours before the donation, and present an identification document with a photo at the time of the procedure.

People who have been diagnosed with Chagas disease, HIV, syphilis or hepatitis after the age of 11 cannot donate blood. In addition, individuals who have had piercings, tattoos, permanent makeup or micropigmentation must wait a period of one year before they can donate.

The blood collection promoted by Hemoal in the Nossa Senhora do Carmo Parish represents an opportunity for the Arapiraca community to contribute to solidarity and health care, in addition to helping to keep blood supplies supplied to meet the needs of the local population.
