Proposals for science, technology and innovation in DF are presented at a conference

The contributions and proposals made by the science, technology and innovation (CT&I) sector of the Federal District for the next ten years were presented during the Regional Science, Technology and Innovation Conference, held in Goiânia between April 29 and 30.

The event brought together teachers, businesspeople, public officials and students. Representing the Federal District, a delegation made up of members of the Secretariat of Science, Technology and Innovation (Secti-DF), the Brazilian Society for the Progress of Science (SBPC), the Brazilian Service of Support for Micro and Small Businesses ( Sebrae-DF), the Federation of Commerce of Goods, Services and Tourism (Fecomércio-DF), Sesi Lab and the University of Brasília (UnB).

The meeting was also attended by the head of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), Luciana Santos, and the secretary of Technological Development and Innovation at MCTI, Guila Calheiros.

The regional stage was marked by constructive discussions. Now, the proposals listed in the Center-West will be debated at the 5th National CT&I Conference, in June, in Brasília, bringing together representatives from all Brazilian states and the Federal District.

The main proposals discussed in the panel were:

→ Promotion of reindustrialization – Invest in initiatives that promote the growth and diversification of the industrial sector, stimulating the creation of new business and job opportunities, as well as bringing academia and industry closer together;

→ Development of fiscal and financial incentive policies – Create incentives for companies that invest in innovation and sustainability, aiming to stimulate the modernization and development of new products and processes;

→ Stimulating innovation in companies – Implement open innovation programs to solve industry challenges, in the public and private sectors, promoting partnerships with universities, research centers and startups;

→ Foreign investments for research and development (R&D) – Implement policies that encourage public-private partnerships and attract foreign investment to the R&D area, by offering tax incentives and simplifying processes of technology transfer and obtaining resources;

→ Inclusion of women in science, technology and innovation (ST&I) – Implement inclusion policies and specific mentoring programs to encourage women’s participation in the sector;

→ Training and acceleration for micro, small and medium-sized companies – Invest in training programs in business management and innovation culture to promote entrepreneurship and the competitiveness of these companies in digital transformation;

→ Qualification of labor – Promote professional qualification to meet the demands of an increasingly technological and innovative industrial environment;

→ Simplification of bureaucratic processes – Simplify public procurement processes and create an online portal for regular and updated dissemination of government business opportunities;

→ Specific credit lines for R&D – Create specific lines of credit to finance research, development and innovation projects, available for the purchase of machines in local industries;

→ Update of the table for the National Classification of Economic Activities (Cnae) – Update Cnae to include a specific code that serves startups that work with innovation activities;

→ Sustainable public purchasing policies – Encourage and train companies to adopt environmentally responsible practices through sustainable public purchasing policies;

→ Insertion of micro and small companies in government purchases – Improve the mechanisms for inserting micro and small companies in government purchases, promoting local economic development and social inclusion.
