Last Monday (29), Petrobras announced its decision to resume oil and gas production on land, known as onshore, in Bahia and Amazonas. The company launched a tender to hire four large rigs, which will be responsible for drilling oil and gas wells in several production fields in these states.

The general coordinator of the Single Federation of Oil Workers (FUP), Deyvid Bacelar, commented on the news, highlighting the benefits for citizens of the affected states.

“We have this good news for the citizens of our beloved Bahia and also the state of Amazonas. Petrobras has already announced the hiring of rigs to drill oil and gas wells on land. This means that we will have a bidding process to hire four large rigs that will drill oil and gas wells,” he stated.

He also highlighted the economic and employment importance that this decision will bring.

“We are talking about around a thousand jobs generated with these four drilling rigs that will be operating in the state of Bahia. I would like to congratulate the work done by State Secretaries Ângelo Almeida, Secretary of Economic Development, and Eduardo Sodré, Secretary of the Environment, who helped in the environmental licensing process for these wells”, he added.

The planned investment for these projects to develop the production and infrastructure of onshore oil and gas fields in Bahia is approximately US$1.7 billion. in the development of this infrastructure project for production in onshore fields. The fields of Araçás, Fazenda Azevedo, Massapê, Taquipe (in São Sebastião do Passé), Fazenda Boa Esperança, among several others in the state of Bahia, will be explored”, explains the FUP coordinator.
