-

The event takes place at Fazenda São Carlos, 85.8 km from the center of the municipality of Unaí – MG.

Embrapa and Epamig present to coffee growers in the Northwest of Minas Gerais the first results of the work to validate 16 new Arabica coffee cultivars, in a Field Day to be held this Friday morning (3/5), starting at 8am. The event takes place at Fazenda São Carlos (BR 251 km 56), a property that is 85.8 km from the center of the municipality of Unaí – MG.

The event will be divided into two sessions: the first, starting at 8:30 am, features actions coordinated by the Vilas Boas Group and Libertas Consultoria on management and cultural treatments in coffee farming; about the coffee futures market; and on tropical regenerative agriculture. Starting at 10am, researchers Gladyston Carvalho, Vinícius Andrade and César Botelho, from Epamig and André Dominghetti Ferreira and Guilherme Barbosa Abreu from Embrapa Café, evaluate the development and first yields of the cultivars that are being grown in an experimental field on the property.

This is the sixth field day held by the project this semester, and the expectation is that at least four more municipalities in Minas Gerais will host events like this by the end of this month: Ibiá (7 May), Patos de Minas (8 and 9 May ), Santo Antônio do Amparo (May 14) and Viçosa (May 28).

The field days are part of a project carried out in partnership between Embrapa and Epamig, which evaluates, in nine coffee regions in the state of Minas Gerais, the agronomic behavior of 16 Arabica coffee cultivars developed by different institutions participating in the Café Research Consortium. , of which Embrapa is the coordinator. Furthermore, the project aims to validate cultivars in different cultivation environments, carrying out technology transfer actions that also provide producers with information on best practices for crop management.

This field day is organized by Epamig, in partnership with Embrapa, the Vilas Boas Group and Fazenda São Carlos and has the support of Coagril; from Fapemig; from CNPq; of the ICL Group; and the Café Research Consortium.
