Residents report an intense shooting in the community of Mangueira, in the North Zone of Rio, on Thursday afternoon (2). According to messages sent on social media, the shots scared drivers who were traveling along Avenida Marechal Rondon, close to Maracanã, also in the North Zone of the city.
There were also cars going the wrong way due to the shooting.
Videos sent by residents to Super Rádio Tupi show the tense atmosphere in the region.

By means of a note, the Military Police informed that military police officers from the Morro da Mangueira Pacification Police unit (UPP/Mangueira) were called to an incident of gunshots in Morro da Mangueira. According to the command of the Pacifying Police Coordination (CPP), preliminary information indicates that criminals located at a certain point in the Morro dos Macacos community fired shots towards Morro da Mangueira. During the action, Avenida Marechal Rondon was closed.
The PM also said that there was no record of confrontation with the Military Police teams. Policing was reinforced in the region.
