MT firefighters are available to help victims of the rains in the South

Around 134 cities are in a state of emergency this Thursday (2) due to the heavy rains that hit Rio Grande do Sul. To date, 24 people have died and more than 20 are missing, according to the State Civil Defense . The Mato Grosso Fire Department made themselves available to support and help the affected communities.

LIGABOM (National Council of Military Fire Brigades) is leading the actions on site and for now, it counts on firefighters from neighboring cities to offer immediate assistance.

The firefighters of Mato Grosso are part of LIGABOM and stated that so far they have not been called, but remain available to assist in operations, if necessary.

The governor of Rio Grande do Sul, Eduardo Leite (PSDB) referred to the rains as the “biggest disaster in the state”.

President Lula disembarked this Thursday in Santa Maria to fly over the areas affected by the rain.

District 4440 of the International Rotary Club is promoting a donation campaign for rain victims in Rio Grande do Sul. According to the organization in Mato Grosso, the rains have brought significant challenges to several regions.
