Concordia Civil Defense confirmed that the containment dam reached its limit in the municipality located in the west of SC. The state is on alert due to the heavy rains hitting the region.

Dam overflowed
The coordinator of Concórdia’s Civil Defense, Miro Toldo, reported that the water is now overflowing through the overflow channel. “It was built for this and has reached its limit and, from now on, all water will end up passing through this channel”, he explains.
The dam was built to contain rain and prevent flooding.
Concordia on alert
The municipality records flooding points. At around 1 pm, Concórdia registered problems in some parts of the Queimados River channel that left the box, but then lowered.
But, with the sequence of rains, the dam overflowed. The mayor, Rogério Pacheco, informed that the teams remain on alert and continue to monitor meteorological warnings to make new decisions and avoid possible disasters.
Classes canceled
The city hall suspended classes in the municipality this Thursday (2) and Friday (3). The guidance is that those responsible who can pick up their children who are in class this afternoon.
The decision may be accepted by the state and private network, as the guidance for suspending classes is from the Concórdia Regional Civil Defense.
