Justice removes gynecologist accused of sexual harassment against 16 patients in Bahia from his activities | Bahia

The removal was a request from the MP-BA, which filed a complaint against Elziro Gonçalves. The agency did not detail when the request was made, nor when it was accepted by the Court.

Of the 16 inquiries opened by the Civil Police, 13 were forwarded to the MP-BA. However, seven were already prescribed.

Nine months after the allegations were made, the Regional Council of Medicine initiated an ethical-professional process against the suspect. As a result, his conduct will be investigated in detail.

A document, which was obtained exclusively by TV Bahia, shows that Elziro Gonçalves de Oliveira has to present his defense within 30 days. The gynecologist will be able to provide evidence, justifications and present witnesses.

Cremeb said that, to date, it has received seven complaints about the aforementioned case. Three of them were archived due to lack of procedural assumptions and four became ethical-professional proceedings, all in the investigation phase.

In a statement, the gynecologist’s defense in the ethical-professional process at Cremeb said that the investigation is being carried out in secret and therefore cannot comment.

Also on note, the lawyers defending Elzrio Gonçaves in the MP-BA investigations denied the accusations and stated that the suspect remains at the disposal of the authorities, firm in his intention to recover his honor.

The first complaint was revealed on July 19, 2023, on the program Bahia Meio Dia, on TV Bahia, an affiliate of TV Globo. The victim was a 43-year-old administrator, who reported the gynecologist for harassment during a consultation at the Baneb Employee Assistance Fund (Casseb) medical center.

The case happened a month earlier, when the woman sought care after feeling pain caused by a urinary infection. Since then, other patients have found the courage to report it.

According to the victims, the professional touched them differently than usual, performed procedures without gloves and asked questions such as “Do you want me to masturbate you?”, “Do you know where your G-spot is?” and “Have you ever had anal sex?”

Two women, who preferred not to reveal their identities, got emotional when recounting the following situations:

• Report 1: The patient said she arrived at the office and went into the bathroom to change her clothes. The gynecologist reportedly said: “Funny, right, girl? There are patients who change their clothes in front of me. You went into the bathroom, you were embarrassed, weren’t you?”. After the procedure, the doctor would have asked if she had a boyfriend and if the couple masturbated. “How many centimeters is your boyfriend’s penis? Because not just any man will satisfy you, no”the professional would have said to the patient.
• Report 2: Another woman said that during the service, Elziro Gonçalves de Oliveira had asked if she was dating. After the negative answer, the gynecologist said: “But how come a hot, beautiful woman like you doesn’t have a boyfriend?’ He also asked: ‘Have you ever had anal sex? Upon hearing another negative, the professional would have asked: “Do you know where your G-spot is?” Do you want me to masturbate you?”. Scared by the situation, the patient says she was “mute and unresponsive”.
