The Amazonas Health Surveillance Foundation – Dr. Rosemary Costa Pinto (FVS-RCP), from the State Department of Health of Amazonas (SES-AM), informs that all doses of the dengue vaccine valid for this period have been administered. Tuesday (04/30) in the state. Starting this Thursday (02/05), vaccination against the disease returns to children and adolescents aged 10 to 14.

Vaccination against dengue is available in 12 municipalities in Amazonas, following distribution from the Ministry of Health. The cities covered were: Manaus, Iranduba, Presidente Figueiredo, Rio Preto da Eva, Barcelos, São Gabriel da Cachoeira, Careiro, Nova Olinda do North, Manaquiri, Santa Isabel do Rio Negro, Autazes and Careiro da Várzea.

These municipalities are part of the health region “Manaus, surroundings and Alto Rio Negro”, recognized by the Ministry of Health as a priority area for receiving doses.

Regarding the exhaustion of doses, due on April 30, which were also available in 16 other municipalities, the director-president of FVS-RCP, Tatyana Amorim, highlighted the quick action of the municipalities to avoid the loss of doses. “The strategic use of vaccines is essential to avoid waste. The engagement of health professionals and the population regarding vaccination is strategic for collective health,” she said.

The person responsible for Epidemiological Surveillance at FVS-RCP, Alexsandro Melo, reinforces the need to maintain preventive measures against dengue, even though there is currently a vaccine against dengue in 12 municipalities. “Vaccination is an important tool, but the population needs to continue eliminating breeding sites for Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, the dengue vector,” he says.
