PRF helicopter rescues cyclists on BR-040, in MG
A group of 15 cyclist was run over by a van at km 429 of BR-040, in Paraopeba, in the Central Region of Minas Gerais, this Tuesday morning (30). Seven of them remained injuredtwo in condition serious.
According to the Federal Highway Police (PRF), the accident happened towards Brasília (DF) and the driver claimed he was closed by a truck. He took a breathalyzer test, which came back negative.
PRF and Fire Department helicopters rescued the serious victims, who were taken to the João XXIII Emergency Hospital, in the Santa Efigênia neighborhood, in the Center-South Region of Belo Horizonte.
The other injured were treated by ambulances from the municipality, the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) and Via 040, the concessionaire that manages the highway.
At 11:10 am, the PRF informed that BR was fully released.
By note, the company that manages the van, Barth Transportes Expressregretted what happened and stated that he provided assistance and support to the victims.
“We clarify that all activities carried out by the company comply with traffic safety regulations and standards. We reiterate our commitment to providing assistance to those involved,” said the statement.
