The Ministry of Transport launched, last Friday (26), a new internet platform to facilitate consultation by drivers with a National Driving License (CNH) in categories C, D and E about the validity of the toxicological test, required by the Brazilian Traffic Code.ebc.gif?id=1592912&o=node

When accessing the service portal, the driver must enter the CPF, date of birth and expiration date of the National Driving License on the electronic form. Immediately, the user will be notified about expiration dates and alerts.

The Communications Director of the Brazilian Toxicology Association (ABTox), Camille Lages, commented on the creation of the consultation page. “Many drivers do not have the Digital Traffic Card application and do not know if their drug test is overdue. Now, with the launch of this consultation portal, the driver, on a normal website, enters his CPF, date of birth, and the driver’s license expiration date. Inside Renach [Registro Nacional de Condutores Habilitados] All the driver’s data will be there. Then, the site tells the user whether he or she is late for the exam or not; and when he needs to do it. This way, you avoid the fine.”

Before the creation of the portal, the other way for drivers to check their drug test status was via the Digital Traffic Card (CDT) application, available to download on smartphones, and access with the password for the federal government services portal, the Gov .br. In the part intended for drivers, the user will be able to consult the deadline for taking the exam and which laboratories are accredited by the National Traffic Secretariat (Senatran).

has also notified drivers across the country that their test has expired. The alert arrives directly on drivers’ cell phones, via the CDT application, the Digital Traffic Card.

Term

Professional drivers with driver’s licenses in categories C, D and E, with expiry dates between January and June, need to update their toxicological test by this Tuesday (30), which is the end of the 30-day tolerance period, given to drivers who did not take the laboratory test by March 31st.

The exam is mandatory every two and a half years for drivers up to 70 years old, who drive trucks, buses and vans, for example. After this age, the result will be charged when the driver’s license is renewed.

The objective is to identify and remove drivers from Brazilian highways who consume drugs and/or stimulants that can reduce attention and good driving performance and, therefore, increase the risk of car accidents.

According to Senatran, at this moment, around 3.4 million drivers have not yet taken the test that can detect the abusive use of psychoactive substances consumed up to 180 days prior to collection.

For those who fail to comply with the deadline, the automatic fine is R$ 1,467.35 and will begin to be issued from this Wednesday (May 1st). The driver still accumulates seven points on his license for the infraction classified as very serious.

The director of ABTox, Pedro Serafim, defends the carrying out of the toxicological test. “Toxicological testing guarantees road safety and has already proven its effectiveness in reducing the number of accidents and fatalities. The fine for those who don’t do it is a necessary penalty because life is priceless”, he highlighted.

The laboratory test of hair, fur or nail samples identifies whether psychoactive substances were used in a period of 90 to 180 days prior to collection (wide detection window). This is because the keratin present in hair preserves substances that were consumed and metabolized for longer than blood and urine, for example.

The laboratory procedure is painless and non-invasive. On average, the exam costs R$135.
