The National Department of Transport Infrastructure (DNIT) announced, this Tuesday (30), the opening of the bidding process to pave 20 kilometers of BR-319. The reconstruction works will be carried out on lot “C” of the highway, which comprises the section between km 198 and km 218.
According to the document, published in the Official Gazette of the Union, the delivery of proposals begins this Tuesday and the opening of the envelopes takes place on June 7th, starting at 3 pm (Brasília time).
Due to the size of BR-319, which is 885.9 kilometers long and connects Amazonas to Rondônia, contracts and tenders for works are celebrated, according to the section of the highway.
Currently, the sections that present the most problems are called the “middle”, 405 km long, and Lot C, which comprises 52 kilometers of the highway.
Now, with the new opening of the bidding process, Dnit plans to pave 20 km of the highway. The works are expected to begin in August 2024.
With the announcement of the opening of the bidding process, the notice became available for consultation this Tuesday morning (30), in the Official Gazette of the Union.
BR-319 cuts through the territory of Amazonas, providing a land connection between the state and Roraima on one side, with Rondônia on the other and with other states in the country on other stretches.
Along the federal highway, the driver encounters rivers, bridges and a lot of mud.
Opened in 1976, BR-319 is known for its poor conditions. It is more than 800 kilometers long, but only the segments located close to the capitals are paved.
There are unpaved sections that cause harm to those who need to travel on the road. Alternatives to the highway are air or boat transportation, on a trip that lasts almost a week.
For years, the highway has been the subject of debates between sectors that demand paving and environmentalists.
