Rapporteur Daniella Ribeiro does not include the correction of the amount for inflation and the project is approved without modifications; goes to sanction
The Federal Senate approved in a symbolic vote this Tuesday (April 30, 2024) PL (bill) 1,026 of 2023, which deals with the continuation of Perse (Emergency Program for the Resumption of the Events Sector) with a ceiling of R$15 billion until 2026. The text that came from the Chamber was not modified and is headed for sanction.
Rapporteur Daniella Ribeiro (PSD-PB) had included a provision in the text to determine the adjustment of the project for inflation, but withdrew the modification shortly before the vote after an agreement with the government of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) and the event sectors.
According to the senator, there were appeals from the categories covered by the program for changes not to be made, with the aim of speeding up the processing process and for the new rule to come into force more quickly.
If the rapporteur had included the correction for inflation, the project would have to return to the Chamber for deputies to analyze the change.
“For the sector, concerned about time, because of the need for the program not to suffer, we present the report that came from the Chamber of Deputies”said the senator.
In the text, Daniella maintained the points approved by the Lower House. The number of so-called CNAEs (National Classification of Economic Activities), an acronym that lists the categories covered by the program, remained at 30.
Opposition senators to the Lula government said they understand the objective of approving the project as quickly as possible, but said “regret” the exclusion of 14 sectors that were left out of the program. There were 4 amendments presented for discussion, but congressmen withdrew them so the text could be sanctioned.
“I hope the sector knows what it is doing with this agreement, I will endorse it by removing the highlight”said the PL leader in the Senate, Carlos Portinho (RJ).
