Santa Catarina teacher Adelina Mezzari died last Sunday (28), in Porto Alegre, the capital of Rio Grande do Sul. Born in Criciúma, she was dean of Extension at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). The cause of death was not disclosed.

Adelina was a professor at the UFRGS Faculty of Pharmacy since 1997, with emphasis on research in the area of microbiology, in which she has a master’s and doctorate. For 18 years, she also worked at the Federal University of Health Sciences of Porto Alegre, where she was the first coordinator of the Pharmacy course.

The professor has served as dean of Extension since September 2020. According to the institution, during her tenure in 2023, Adelina increased the value of extension scholarships for UFRGS students by 75%.

Farewell
According to UFCSPA, the wake is scheduled for this Wednesday (1st), starting at 9 am, at the Angelus Memorial and Crematorium (Chapel 2), in Porto Alegre. The farewell ceremony will be at Avenida Porto Alegre, 320, Medianeira, from 1:30 pm to 2 pm.
In a note of condolence, UFRGS commented on the death and declared official mourning for three days at the institution. Check out the note released by UFRGS:
“With extreme regret, the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul announces the death of Professor Adelina Mezzari, Pro-Rector of Extension at this Institution. Professor Adelina will remain with us, her colleagues, friends and friends, with the image of her smile. An example of dedication to UFRGS, she radiated her joy in leading Prorext and extended affection to her students and classes of pharmacists who had the grace to meet her. As a way of honoring his memory, UFRGS declares official mourning for three days, expressing to his family the feeling of deep sadness“, says the note.
