Brazil created 244,315 jobs with a formal contract in March 2024. The result is a record and represents a high of 25.7% compared to the same month in 2023, when 194,372 were created posts.

It is the 3rd month in a row that the country has a positive balanceaccording to the Caged (General Register of Employed and Unemployed). The data was released this Tuesday (April 30, 2024) by Ministry of Labor and Employment. Here’s the complete of the report (PDF – 1 MB).

In March, there were 2,262,420 admissions and 2,018,105 dismissals. Read the trajectory of job creation in the country:

From January to March, they were open 719,033 work stations. Brazil now has just over 46.2 million of people formally working in the public and private sectors.

The growth is 0.53% compared to the February 2024 stock.

AVERAGE SALARY

The average admission salary was R$ 2,081.50 in March. The result represented a reduction of R$ 5.25 in relation to February, considering the value adjusted for inflation (R$ 2,086.75).

Compared to March 2023, there was a real increase of R$54.17. The increase is 2.7%.

SECTORS

According to Caged, 4 of the 5 groups of economic activities had a positive balance in March.

Here are the sectoral results:

  • services: 148,722 positions;
  • business: 37,493 positions;
  • industry: 35,886 positions;
  • construction: 28,666 positions;
  • agriculture: – 6,457 positions.

Year to date, the 5 groups had a positive balance. Here are the sectoral results from January to March 2024:

  • services: 419,286 positions;
  • industry: 155,461 positions;
  • construction: 109,911 positions;
  • agriculture: 19,278 positions;
  • business: 15,091 positions.

STATES

According to the ministry, 25 of the 27 federative units registered a positive balance in job creation. The State of São Paulo had the highest number of jobs (76,941, an increase of 0.6%), with emphasis on services (+46,451).

Alagoas was the State with the biggest drop in balance: – 9,589 jobs (-2.2%), with the impact of raw sugar manufacturing (-8,317) and sugar cane cultivation (-1,425).
