Legislative Assembly of Rio Grande do Norte

The ordinary meeting of the Health Commission (CS) of the Legislative Assembly of Rio Grande do Norte, held this Tuesday (30), was marked by debates on bills aimed at improving the state health system. Several initiatives were approved, aiming to improve service and guarantee fundamental rights to citizens.

Representative Gustavo Carvalho (PSDB) proposed a bill that makes it mandatory to publish the stock of medicines available in health units and popular pharmacies in the state. The project rapporteur, Cristiane Dantas (SDD), highlighted its importance for increasing standards of administrative transparency and ensuring adequate access to medicines.

Another approved project, initiated by deputy Dr. Kerginaldo (PSDB), deals with the application of the oral provocation test to diagnose allergies in Rio Grande do Norte. This measure aims to improve allergy diagnosis and treatment procedures, benefiting the state’s population.

Unanimously approved, the proposal by deputy Ubaldo Fernandes (PSDB) to guarantee assistance to people with disabilities and/or reduced mobility in commercial establishments, aiming to promote inclusion and accessibility.

Furthermore, the project by deputy Kleber Rodrigues (PSDB) seeks to make it mandatory to carry out molecular genetic testing to identify Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) in neonatal screening, aiming for an early diagnosis and effective treatment of this disease. “SMA is a disease that, even when diagnosed early, has severe consequences on the child’s development”, highlighted Galeno Torquato.

Finally, deputy Hermano Morais (PV) proposed a regulation for the use of returnable plastic containers in products such as mineral water, drinking table water and water with added salts, aiming to protect the environment and public health.

Closing the meeting, the president of the Health Commission, Galeno Torquato (PSDB), highlighted the importance of visits to the state’s health units, carried out by the commission, to identify needs and improve care. “We have already visited Unicat, the Onofre Lopes University Hospital and Walfredo Gurgel, given that there were many complaints about the lack of supplies and medicines. These on-site visits serve to diagnose the difficulties and listen to the management so that this commission can join control bodies such as the Public Ministry and Sesap, to have a diagnosis of the State’s Health so that we can improve the service”, he concluded. Deputies Terezinha Maia (PL), Galeno Torquato (PSDB), Cristiane Dantas (SDD) and Dr. Bernardo (PSDB) participated in the meeting, demonstrating their joint commitment to the health of the population of Rio Grande do Norte.
