Gabigol returns to Flamengo after being released from punishment

The team has been in the spotlight since winning Series C last year, which allowed access to the second division of the Brazilian Championship. It had been 17 years since the state of Amazonas was represented in Series B. With the investment and experience of the cast, Onça dreams of greater heights on the national stage.

The striker was the name of Amazonas in 2023. Sassá was a great promise for Botafogo, won titles at Cruzeiro and then played for other clubs until he found his good form in the north of the country. He was top scorer in the 2023 Series C, with 18 goals in 22 games.

A year after announcing the end of his career, Jô canceled his retirement and chose Amazonas to make his return to professional football at the age of 37. The player boasts a successful career, with participation in the World Cup and the Confederations Cup title, for the Brazilian team, Libertadores, for Atlético-MG, two Brazilians, for Corinthians, among others. Alongside Sassá, he is Amazonas’ hope for goals this season.

With one less, Amazonas draws with CRB away from home

On the side, Amazonas has the experienced Patric, 35, who gained prominence and titles with Sport (Copa Nordeste) and Atlético-MG (twice Minas Gerais champion). The player was one of the references in winning the Series C.

After playing two seasons at Amazonas, Ibson returned last year as a member of the coaching staff. Created by Flamengo, the former midfielder quickly stood out in national football and was sold to Porto. He played a few seasons in Portugal and returned to Rubro-Negro. Afterwards he played in Russia, Italy and other Brazilian clubs, such as Santos and Corinthians.

In charge of the team is Adilson Batista. As a player, he played for big clubs and won the Libertadores with Grêmio. As a coach, he became very identified with Cruzeiro after his second state championship and went on to play for many other teams in the country. Amazonas announced the coach on April 16, to replace Luizinho Vieira, fired because of Amazonas’ runner-up finish.
