The Public Ministry of the State of Rio de Janeiro (MPRJ), through the Specialized Action Group for Combating Organized Crime (GAECO/MPRJ) and the Security and Intelligence Coordination (CSI/MPRJ), complies, this Tuesday morning- fair (30), search and seizure warrants at 14 addresses of individuals and legal entities linked to the exploitation of Jogo do Bicho and slot machines. Among the addresses are the headquarters of Clube Ospiração, in Abolição, and Clube Grêmio Recreativo Vera Cruz, in Piedade, both in the North Zone. According to GAECO/MPRJ, clandestine casinos operate at these two addresses.

The action is developed in partnership with the Civil Police, through the Police Station for the Repression of Organized Criminal Actions and Special Inquiries (Draco) and the Carlos Eboli Criminalistics Institute (ICCE). Criminal Investigative Procedure (PIC) of GAECO/MPRJ revealed that all targets of operation Bancarrota are linked to the criminal organization led by misdemeanor José Caruzzo Escafura, known as Piruinha.

Also targets of the GAECO/MPRJ operation are addresses of members of the criminal organization, responsible for promoting and managing illegal gambling houses, as well as bars and businesses, which have slot machine machines.

The warrants, issued by the Court of the 2nd Court Specialized in Criminal Organization of the Capital, are being served in the neighborhoods of Engenho Novo, Bento Ribeiro, Jacarepaguá, Realengo, Madureira, Cascadura, Brás de Pina and Cavalcanti.
