Labor Day is celebrated worldwide this Wednesday (1st). The date, declared a national holiday by the Consolidation of Labor Laws (CLT), guarantees employees a day of rest.

Despite this, not everyone ends up benefiting. Labor legislation authorizes the operation of activities in some sectors which are classified as essential (check below).
