The number of wine producers doubled in Minas. Data from the Agricultural Research Company of Minas Gerais (Epamig) indicate that, in 2020, the State had around 50 manufacturers. Currently there are one hundred, with more than a thousand hectares of registered vineyards, mainly in the South and in the Mantiqueira region.

Also according to Epamig, when the entire planted area is in production, there will be around 4 thousand tons of grapes and 2.4 million liters of wine. The estimate is that the market will generate R$120 million per year.

The data was presented this Monday (29) by the state government, which guarantees that it has invested around R$ 10 million in projects to develop management techniques, seedling production, winery assembly and oenological analyses.

In an attempt to attract investment and boost the sector, a special regime was created, reducing the tax burden of the Tax on Circulation of Goods and Services (ICMS) from 25% to 3%.

The SEF Tax Policy Committee approved, at the beginning of April, the Sectoral Tax Treatment (TTS) aimed at wine manufacturers.

Wine manufacturers that fall into the segment, except taxpayers opting for Simples Nacional, can request the TTS concession directly from the Integrated State Revenue Administration System (Siare).

The special regime has already been requested by the company Luiz Porto Vinhos Finos, which has 14 labels. The vineyards are in Cordislândia, in the south of Minas, and the drink is processed in Tiradentes, in Campo das Vertentes, where tourists visit the factory for tastings.
