The construction works on the new bridge between the districts of Icoaraci and Outeiro, belonging to Belém, carried out by the Government of Pará, through the State Department of Transport (Setran), are in full swing, already with significant progress and strictly following the anticipated schedule. The execution phase has reached the foundations on both banks. On the Icoaraci bank, the mesostructure has also been started, consisting of pillars and beams supporting the beams.

With an investment of more than R$110 million, the new bridge, which will connect 6th and 7th Streets, in Icoaraci, to Rua da Brasília, in Outeiro, will be fundamental for logistics between the two districts.

“The importance of this new infrastructure is undeniable. In addition to boosting the economy and tourism in the region, it will ensure greater fluidity in the transport and circulation of people and goods, contributing to the sustainable development of the districts involved. The bridge, modern and safe, will offer an exclusive lane for cyclists and motorcycles, in addition to a navigation span suitable to the demands of current vessels, aiming to prevent any incidents”, informed the Secretary of State for Transport, Adler Silveira.

Measuring 414 meters in length, the bridge will have two lanes for vehicles and motorcycles, with the central section being supported by a 234-meter cable-stayed structure (with steel cables). This configuration will provide two navigation spans each 117 meters wide, guaranteeing safety for waterway traffic.

Speed and security – With the prospect of a faster and safer connection between the districts – which together have more than 247 thousand inhabitants, according to the latest Census by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) –, residents are eagerly awaiting the benefits that the bridge will bring , from improving accessibility to encouraging tourism.

“It will improve a lot for us, residents, because with this work the distance to this crossing will be reduced, the houses will be more valued and our tourism will improve a lot. We are very anxious for the work to be completed soon”, said resident Helaldo Henrique.

“I have lived here in Outeiro for 22 years. I have known the reality here since I was a child, and the dream of this bridge was very old, and now it is being realized. We waited a long time for this. I believe that, with this new bridge, it will also bring more development to this area and change our routine for the better”, said social worker Suely Barbosa.

The work has a completion period of two years. When delivered by the State government, a new era will begin for thousands of people from Pará who live, study, do business and enjoy the riverfronts and beaches in this region of Belém.

The new bridge will be the second delivered by the State government to the population. The first bridge needed to be completely rebuilt after an accident, and was delivered in February 2023.
