The Government of the State of Rio may create a Specialized Police Station for the Investigation of Deaths of Public Security Agents. This is what authorizes Law 10,347/24, authored by deputy Rosenverg Reis (MDB), which was approved by the Legislative Assembly of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Alerj), sanctioned by governor Cláudio Castro and published in the Official Gazette this Thursday (25/04).
According to the measure, the police station must record, investigate, open an investigation and adopt other police procedures necessary to defend public security agents against any type of conduct that places them at risk, aiming for their effective protection.
“Among the main reasons for officer deaths is the recognition of police officers outside of working hours, an alarming fact that transforms their lives into a permanent state of alert, compromising the time they could spend with their family or on other activities.”said Rosenverg.
Expenses arising from the application of the rule will be borne by the State Secretariat of Civil Police, supplemented if necessary. The measure requires regulation by the Executive.
